Instant Pot Hard-Boiled Eggs

Does this count as a recipe? I’m not sure.

One ingredient. Press one button. Done.

Yep, that’s a recipe. More importantly, it’s MY kind of recipe.

You don’t even have to use “older” eggs and the best part is that peeling them takes seconds.

What more could a girl want?

It’s hard to say exactly how long these eggs take, because it takes a bit of time for the pot to come to pressure. If you use hot water and room temperature eggs, it does go faster.

The key is to watch the “Count Up” timer that comes on after cooking. When it gets to 4, you’re good to go. I know some people prefer to cook for 5 minutes and then let them sit in the pot for 5 minutes, but I found that the edges of my yolks would sometimes turn green if I did this. 4 and 4 seems to work best for me.

Use Good Eggs!

I LOVE that I can use organic, truly cage-free eggs from my friend Jen Brevard’s farm, Clover Hill Harvest. There IS a difference! Organic, cage-free, bug-eating eggs supply us with necessary Omega 3’s versus the Omega 6’s found in conventional eggs. (Omega 6’s aren’t bad for us, we just need a balance between 3’s and 6’s.) Chickens weren’t meant to be vegetarians. So, if you’re in the Oconomowoc/Madison, WI area GO VISIT HER!!! In addition to being extremely smart, she’s using sustainable methods and is farming the right way!

Instant Pot Hard-Boiled Eggs

These hard-boiled eggs are beyond easy.  Once you make them, you’ll NEVER go back to the traditional method.

Ingredients

  • eggs

Instructions

  • Place as many eggs as you want in your Instant Pot.
  • Add 1 cup of water.
  • Close the lid and set the pot for 4 minutes on Manual.
  • When the pot has finished cooking, allow the eggs to sit in the pot for 4 additional minutes before doing a Quick Release to release the pressure.  Be sure to avoid the steam.
  • Open the lid and carefully remove the hot eggs. Place them in an ice bath until cooled completely.
  • Peel and use immediately or save for later.

Still Need an Instant Pot?

Here’s the one that I have and recommend. (Okay, I actually have two of them…I’m a gadget girl) It’s big enough to feed my crew of hungry guys and I can use it to make my favorite yogurt, too.

Yes, this would work with a different brand of pressure cooker and yes, the eggs are naturally dairy free, gluten free and sugar free. They also fit nicely into a low carb, keto, Whole 30 or Paleo lifestyle.

Let me know in the comments below how you like to use hard-boiled eggs. I’ll share my favorite egg salad recipe next week, so watch for it or get on my email list here to be notified!
