5 Proven Tips to Help You Drink Water

Drinking water really should be simple, right?

Drink when you’re thirsty.  Stop when you’re not.

But it’s not quite that easy anymore.

Many of us are out of touch with our bodies and miss our body’s signal that it needs water.

Or worse yet, we mistake it for hunger.  (That might not actually be a complete mistake, though.  Food usually contains some water.  Eating is just not a very efficient way of getting it.)

The best way to get your water is, of course, to drink it.

Better yet, drink it slowly, throughout the entire day.

Sounds easy, right?  But, if you’re not a fan, just telling yourself to drink it isn’t going to work.  Nobody likes to do things they don’t like.  Thank you, Captain Obvious!

But nobody gets a free pass.  You just have to put on your big girl panties and do it!  No excuses!

Here are my 5 Best Tips:

  1. Drink 1-2 glasses first thing in the morning.  Try keeping a glass right next to your bed!
  2. Pour all of your water for the day at once.  Either put it in 1 large container and pour from that the rest of the day OR put it in multiple glasses, bottles, etc. right away.  This will help you gauge how close you are to your daily water goal.
  3. Make a point to drink an extra glass after every trip to the bathroom.
  4. Make it taste better naturally.  Add some natural flavor with sliced fruit or a splash of juice.  Avoid water enhancers like Crystal Light, Mio, etc., if you can.  They really aren’t good for you.
  5. Add a bit of good sea salt to your water.  This helps you stay hydrated, retain your electrolytes and can encourage you to drink more.

When you are properly hydrated, every single cell in your body works better, you have more energy, your brain works better, you’re more likely to detox efficiently and your immune system gets a boost.

Win, win, win, win, win!
